This wine is our premier sherry. The base is a blend of Niagara and Muscat wines. Grape spirits are added to “fortify” the blend. The wine is than aged in 50 gallon barrels for at least three hot Cincinnati summers. The heat and the barrel aging result in a wine rich in nose and flavor. Enjoy as a sipping wine after dinner.
This fortified wine is flavored with the finest imported botanicals to give it its delicate flavor, aroma and dryness. A perfect cocktail mixer, it is also wonderful when served as an aperitif. In addition, dry vermouth can be used as a substitute for white wine in food recipes.
While transporting a sweet wine from the Portuguese island of Madeira, the English observed that the wine changed for the better after making a passage across the equator. We use a bit of heat to duplicate this process, the heat of the Cincinnati summer, on a blend of fortified wines. Enjoy this wine after dinner at room or just slightly chilled.
3 Islands Marsala is a liqueur-like, aromatic wine with a rich, smoky flavor. Hints of oak can be detected in the nose. The mouth feel is rich and supple, with only a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. Marsala is an excellent apéritif, a fine companion with fresh pears, apples, nuts, and cheeses. The wine is also used to flavor such desserts as Zabaglione.
Aged in oak barrels, our #44 Port has great mouth-feel and a velvety finish. This wine is made from a variety of vinifera grapes. Most often, ports are enjoyed as after dinner aperitifs. For an elegant dessert, serve the #44 Port with a variety of cheeses and fruit.
We call this our “Golden Sherry”. Although made in the same way as one of our other Sherries, the final blending produces a wine with a darker hue and a bit more body. This sherry is a great accompaniment with sharp cheeses, or just for sipping. Like our #11 Sherry, serve just below room temperature, or, if you prefer, chilled.
This sweet vermouth is made from a delicate blending of selected wines. Its full-bodied flavor makes it a perfect mixer in cocktails and a delicious after-dinner drink when served by itself.
